Schedule for Paul J. Ciener Botanical Garden Grand Opening Saturday and Sunday | Community Spirit

Piedmont Triad's newest and most expansive public botanical garden opens Saturday and a weekend full of events will be held in celebration.

The grand opening of the Paul J. Ciener Botanical Garden at 205 S. Main St. starts at 10 a.m. Saturday and lasts untill 5 p.m. Sunday.

The schedule:

Family Day:  Saturday 10 a.m. - 4 p.m.

• Kicking off with a ribbon-cutting at 10 a.m.
• Tours of the Welcome Center, Horticulture Center, gardens, nursery and greenhouses
• Refreshments
• Garden vendors
• Children's activities
• Gardening information, idea, and tips
• Music
• Door prizes and plant giveaways

Sunday 12:30 – 5 p.m.

• Self-guided tours at gardens, nursery and greenhouses
• 1:30 p.m.  Welcome & Garden Talk:  "Birth of the Garden" by Todd Lasseigne, Ph.D., Executive Director, Paul J. Ciener Botanical Garden
• 2:30 p.m. Garden Talk by Brent Heath of Brent and Becky's Bulbs (Gloucester, VA)
• Book signing by Toby Bost, Co-Editor, "The Successful Gardener Guide – North Carolina"

The garden is a "place of unique beauty seeking to inspire, enlighten, and connect people of all ages to the world of plants, gardening, and horticulture," according to the Paul J. Ciener website.
